I am very interested in hearing from anybody who has entered the consultancy sector with a similiar background to mine. I am only 3 years into working and my CV does not have a graduate scheme or Blue Chip name. Firstly if anyone have any advice as to whether I should apply for graduate schemes or higher level (I do have lots of experience from running my own business - but all hands on and self directed). And secondly I would be interested to hear whether anybody has a recommendation for entering a boutique firm or one of the big ones?So here is a brief synopsis of my CV: after graduating in a Humanties subject from a Russell Group university 3 years ago I entered the arts sector and worked as a manager. I left 18 months later to launch my own business. Now 18 months after this with a difficult retail sector my business is not as healthy as I had anticipated. Without capital to push it forward and wanting to learn more about business analysis and strategy I would like to join the management consultancy sector.Any advice would be gratefully recieved!

Everything is possible, even after 25 year from graduation! Look for a job is like a job. If you're hard working you'll be awarded, believe me.

If you have built up strong powerpoint, excel, and project management skills, and have a good understanding of business transformation and managing change, then you should be ok to apply as an experienced hire at Consultant level. If not, go for the grad programme. There are plenty of people in grad programmes 3 years after graduation (I started mine aged 26).
