Hello, I am a recent grad who just started working and suddenly a lot of money coming my way but dont know what to do with it. Any suggestions on how to fully maximise my excess money apart from sticking it in a normal savings account? Don't know much about the stock market so dont want to go there.

Did they not tell you that the first paycheck has always more money in it and thus you should calm down and not overjoy yourself? Take it easy, in two months or three the money will find itself through the London money drains and you will no longer talk about excess. Let me predict your new subject thread : "How much of a raise/bonus can I expect from x company?"

Stick it in an ISA, contribute to company pension scheme and if some left, buy discounted shares in your company if they're on offer.

I agree with the above post. And if in the future you find out about a better investment then you can always take your isa money out. But it's a pretty sound investment. Plus regular savers are an easy way of amassing blocks of cash. If you set it up now then you can easily put £250 away a month and in a year's time you'll have over £3k to invest in something.

Lucky jammer. My advice is to set yourself a modest monthly budget and stick to it. If/when you get any pay rises, don't increase your spending budget... a lavish lifestyle is easy to become accustomed to! Save the 'residual' you're left with each month... tuck it away and don't be tempted to spend it. You'll need it when you want to buy a house.I speak from experience as somebody who is seriously underpaid and doesn't have two ha'pennies to rub together.
