Does anyone out there have any advice on the follwing:I am currently a Consultant at PA / ISI Practice (Consultant being promoted to Principal Consultant at the end of the year).I am tired of the generalist/project management type of work I am getting at PA and miss the days of being a specialist. Back in the days I was an SAP consultant and although I do not want to go back to that field of work I would like to go back to a more specialist role.I have now applied to a few positions at Sungard (supplier of trading and banking systems) and think I have a fair chance of landing a job as functional specialist or account manager working with their trading system Front Arena.So any oppinions on this such as for example:- reputation of Sungard?- salary compared to PA?- culture at Sungard?- chances of moving from Sungard to IB in a few years?All oppinions welcome!(Except complaints about my spelling,.. I am notenglish you see.... )

What sort of salary are you on at PA. I used to work at Kiodex a part of Sungard and I know they will use the current salary as a base.

My salary is the equivalent of 37K Gbp plus a small bonus ( approx. 15%).Might seem low to you but I am not based in London so this is pretty normal for someone with my experience here.Just seems to me that although "management consulting" is more prestigious,.. the specialists (i.e. SAP, Siebel, Microsoft experts) seem to be making more money....

Nudge, nudge,..... what about other companies in this sector "trading technology",... any views/opinions??

The name I believe is fairly well regarded in the markets tho' I don't know a great deal about equity systems. I woulsd have thought the salries would be better than what you are on. As for moving into IB afterwards I don't see why not if that is you are prepared to stay on the IT/Support side. I can't see them giving you an equities trading book coming from a systems vendor
