Oddest expense claim?

After complaints that there's not enough levity on the board these days, and since every graduate seems desperate to hear about what is and isn't allowed on an expense report, I thought I'd ask the question:What's the strangest thing you've ever expensed?

I'll start, although mine are quite tame by most standards. I have, in the past, expensed:- rubber chickens- cowboy & indian outfits- Play-doh- snow boots- 30+ hotdogs from a hotdog vendor- inflatable sheepI hasten to add that not all were submitted on the same expense claim.

No, it was "that" sort of inflatable sheep, not the sort that you would give to your kids. (Hint: the sheep was wearing lipstick).Bought for a colleague's party when he was sent to spend six months on secondment to a client in Wales. Autographed by the entire team.

Is swiping your card a new euphamism? How much is that service?

Classy post VIHow can you get away charging stuff like that to a client? If I tried to do that, in my company, I’d quite rightly be disciplined for abusing client funds, bringing the firm’s name into disrepute, etc.On any expense claim: use the Red Face test. If a client, or an external party, scrutinised this claim, would I be embarrassed. If you are using client funds to purchase “adult toys”, then I’m surprised you kept it out of the papers.Which firm is it you work for Idiot ?

Ex Big Blue, it's great to see that you guys still live up to your fun-loving reputation. You should learn to lighten up a little. The sheep was expensed to an internal code. It was signed off my my manager (who attended the party). As did his manager. It was not a night of terrible debauchery. It was a bunch of colleagues having a laugh and a light-hearted joke. It's called morale-building. No red faces involved at all, and I'd stand in front of the CEO and justify my decision to purchase the aforementioned sheep. I'm not at all sheepish about it. (Sorry, couldn't resist)All of the other items were purchased for client engagements, and were recharged to the clients. They all knew why we'd bought the items, and they were all satisfied with why we'd made the purchases. In fact, they quite enjoyed the fact that we could be a little light-hearted.Business doesn't have to be serious 100% of the time to be effective. Having some fun is a great way to boost productivity. Maybe a lesson you need to learn at Big Blue. Aren't they laying off 150,000 people?

150'000 is the START matey, killing TUPED employees, old employees, and contracts that cost too much to service where GP is less than 8%. But thyats perfectly lgical really when you think about it, they are still recruiting and it does not seem as bad as Cap Gem where I am leaving right now :)Ill not buy any sheep though, even if im in wales.
