I’d very much appreciate your advice... I’d like to leave the consultancy (MBBB) in Eastern Europe and secure a role in the industry (consumer goods) in the UK. I’ve already started talks with the US giant and they asked me to fill in detailed form regarding my skills (so far achievements, etc.) but also current salary details (and by details I mean details: basis, bonus, pension, shares, etc).It looks like their standard form, but I’m not confident about revealing all financial details. It’s confidential and I don’t want to put it on the paper, especially that I haven’t secured the position yet.So the question: is it the standard practice in the UK to fill in such questionnaires? How would you recommend to deal with this case?

Its not standard at all. I would write a range ie. 40-50k complete package, and discuss later. Information is power, give them just what they need to know.

Application forms aren't unusual but the remuneration section sounds more detailed than usual. If you're uncomfortable with any section, you can always skip it, or just total up your pay and benefits and write in "total package worth £xx,xxx". They won't throw out your application on the basis of completing the form a little sloppily if they're already talking to you. They can always follow up later if they need any of the information for legal or tax purposes. The only difficulty comes if you miss out a piece of information on your current pay and benefits and they base your offer on the information you gave them. If anything it will mean your offer will come in lower and it might be awkward to renegotiate on the basis of information you chose not to disclose earlier.

Stefan, May I ask why you are leaving MBB ? Is it only for a location change ?

stefan,To which consumer goods company have you applied? Asking because I am tying to move - in the opposite direction - i.e. I am at a consumer goods comapany, and want to move to an MBBB firm anywhere in europe. Perhaps, we can help each other?

I wanna leave because of the international exposure, which I'd like to gain. Also because I don't want to work all my life in consulting. Finally (though I might be wrong) "MBBB from Eastern Europe" has less "CV selling power" (from European/global perspective) than some decent role (incl. industry) in the UK.As for the 2nd question... one of the food giants.
