I recently received an offer from Booz for Dubai as an associate level 0. Does anyone know of the existence of this level outside the UAE? What is the difference between A0 and A1?base is $95k.

Phooey, tell them to make their mind up. Either you're an associate, or you're not. A0 indeed.

How many years experience did you have prior to this? I believe A0 is similar to Senior Associate position offered at simialr Strats firms

Don't listen to Strategist, he's got it all wrong (no offence). At BAH the grades are Consultant, Sen. Consultant, Associate, Sen. Associate, Principal, Partner, Sen. PartnerThis amounts to C1, C2, SC1, SC2, A1, A2, SA1, SA2, P1, P2, P3... Partner.Sometimes there is an A3 slot if an associate's not quite ready for the SA role. But, if you get "promoted" to A3 then you might as well start looking for another job because you're a borderline case and that's not good in an up or out environment.A0 isn't a grade that is part of the normal promotion path. It basically means that they're taking you on as a 'junior associate'. You don't want to spend long at the associate level, it's a killer. It sounds like they think you're more like Senior Consultant material, but for some reason are offering you a slightly elevated status, possibly because you have an MBA or something?

@ TSVP -Apologies - I confused 'Associate' with the 'Associate Consultant' position offered at my firm.@ Someone - I am looking at positions within the UAE strategy market right now - what level of experience is required for the Associate position? Do you have an MBA?Cheers

Strategist, a few months ago there was a Dubai-based headhunter who kept spamming his contact details all over the board. If you do a search (try "dubai" or "rpint.com") you will probably find his info. He might be able to help, and if he can't, I expect he probably knows someone who can...

Basic nothing special to what BAH were paying a while back - probably as they were booted out of their 2 biggest clients in the UAE!

@ dubaier...thanks for the info. You seem to know the market out in Dubai. What sort of package could someone with 3 years Strats consulting experience expect? Which companies would you recommend?thanks in advance...

Dear Mr Senior Vice President (or should that be Business Analyst), I would like some confidential information about the salary structures and corporate strategies of one of your clients. Please help us all out by posting this information on this website as this would help us all. Don't worry about breaking your contractual obligations to your client - just think of how much you will be helping out the readers of this forum.I am sure the guy in Dubai will contact the original poster if the original poster wants to facilitate this. I am equally sure that this matter is by now being handled as the original poster seems to have disappeared leaving the usual combination of bored recruiters and benched strategy consultants exchanging pointless banter.Lots of loveMr "I can't believe I was rejected by Accenture - I must be braindead"By the way.... don't be shy Lord Browne. Gay is good.

The original poster was after general market information from the Dubai-based headhunter, not specifics about his particular clients.I think you should lay off the crack for a while.

For the first time in my life I am going to agree with the recruiter (can't believe this...) if we as strat consultants pass on info about other firms we are probably passing on something we heard, something an ex collague said or info we have gathered from an informal source (we would not publish the pay scales at our own company). The recruiter may have gained this information from official and confidential meetings and has to treat it with greater sensitivity.Don't worry I will be back to recruiter bashing (dodgy, lying, rip-off merchants) very soon

Sorry I've been away. I have a PhD in telecom and just under 5 years of experience, in industry as well as consulting (the last 1.5 years).I wanted to find out if anyone had any understanding of this level and whether it would mean an additional year for me to get to SA1 or whether I could go from A0 to A2 directly if I'm performing as well as my peers.Regards,

if you do well and pay the politics right, you will make the grade. However, the vast majority do not move up, they tend to move out to a client or another colmpany based on their experience. I would not advise that you get too fixated on promotion through the business. This is the least likely of the possible outcomes. If the money is OK for you and you are prepared to work harder than you have ever worked before in your life for a couple of years, you should be well set up from that point.

Hurrah! Recruiter bashing, that chap from Dubai, disappearing original poster. Classic stuff. And of course recruiters are privy to confidential briefings we cannot simply pass on to the market - we would lose the confidence of our clients (and this goes for confidential information from candidates also!).
