I have worked for both Deloitte and now Accenture but I am now bored. My question is where do I go next? These companies are the top 2 of the top 4. Do I down further to E&Y or KPMG? Do I go to a bank? I dont mind going into industry but the money in consulting i good. While money is not everything, it does matter. Who else is paying top dollar for IT project managers?
It would be great if any Accenture/Deloitte Alumni could chip in and tell us where they went after leaving their respective companies. What level did you leave at and what level did you join your new employer?

Thanks in advanceLucky

Lucky, it depends what you want to do but the banks are hiring big time so try there. Otherwise why not try contracting as the market is ripe.

Used to be at Deloitte

Most consultants move into industry but I followed a simple strategy. I interviewed for jobs that offered way more responsibility than I had. I had been at Deloitte for 3 years and aimed for an IB. I got in at AVP and never looked back. It has been hard work but I am still here.

Dont join E&Y thats for sure. You have already worked for two of the best and if you move to another consultancy, it will be one with less of a reputation. Accenture and Deloitte are the best you can get outside of MBB. Why not tell us what industry you are aligned with and maybe you will get a few more responses!

You could always go to one of the FS specialist boutiques.....having come from one or two of the big 4 tho' you will be expected to know your stuff......not sure how they view IT based knowledge tho'

lucky, i'm about to start with Deloitte on their graduate scheme. I'm particuarly interested in the time frame after which you begin to specialise.specifically, I want to work in the FS industry; how long after I start can I ask for these types of projects??Thanks

Are you in TI or Strategy or Ops? Half of TI business is public sector and FS is having a tough time. You can specialise from M2 (Senior Consultant) onwards.
Can anyone provide a list of FS specialist boutiques?

For a variety of reasons, I am interested in IB. As a consultant, how did you target the IBanks? Did you have to network or have a contact at a bank? How did you get an interview?

Netowrks are very important and you should build and leverage it. Depending on which are of an IB you want to get into there are activities you can do to demonstrate your keeness to potential employers. e.g. Training - SII Exams, CFA, Project Management, Sun certified courses, Advanced Excel etcAttend Industry events e.g. Regulatory, SOX, BASEL II, MiFID...Be seen at the places the FS guys hang out. Heck, I would even try cold calling and offering a free lunch or two to FS guys of your grade. Just communicate that you want to undertsand more about the area they work in. Let them take a few mouthfuls then ask your first couple of questions - they wont be able to stop talking. FS guys love talking about themselves especially those in Front Office.Do your homework and good luck. Finally I can recommend the guys below. They are good.http://www.druidib.com/
