I'd need at least 20% to change jobs. I agree with you, there is risk in moving from a safe position to the 'unknown' and that risk commands a premium. What if you don't settle in and get fired after 6 months? That in my view is a BIG risk (medium probability, very high impact). You simply cannot judge how you'll settle in based on a handful of 1 hour interviews and looking at their website.Plus as you correctly mention you also have the hassle of building up your reputation from square 1 again, proving yourself to everybody, learning 'their way' of 'doing things', etc. Would you take all that extra hassle and risk for a few K extra? I certainly wouldn't.
