Does any one know what the success rate is for consultant positions at MBB.That is, what percentage of those who are invited for the first interview actually end up getting a job ?

don't know but if you are clueless, I would say that your chances are better than most. They don't like people with individuality or their own ideas.

Based on Vault messaging, the success rate for Bain's AC position worldwide is less than 1%.

This year Bain recieved around 3000 CVs in the grad milkround.300 were given a 1st round interview, 100 of those a second round and about 35 of those were made offers.So yes, sucess rate is around 1%. However it is important to note that just getting an interview is a huge achievement, as this is where the majority is weeded out.

fine but do you know how many ponzies apply ? the interesting % would be the ones from the first interview to hire.

Pirlo if you check my post above (which is for this year's London office) you will see that just under 1 in 10 people that got a 1st round interview at Bain were made an offer.Furthermore remember that the CNN figures are only the number of new people hired each year. There are sure to be some people who got offers at Bain and decided to go elsewhere.
