Hi I am a 2nd year at Oxbridge - I had an offer from the BAP programme but a mate of mine at BCG says that they are closing?! Is this true?! HR doesnt reply to my mail

They havent closed - but redundacies are looming. We over hired at the begining, especially at Director level - and now cant generate enough business to keep all of the chargeable and afloat. Be prepared for some serious CV time ( i myself am out of here faster than you can say rabbit)

I heard that Oliver Wright ( major MCk player back in the day) was going to head back into MBBB territory - rumours have it Bain are redeveloping their cost cutting methodology and are getting in touch with a few of the old school players.

The sky is not falling, the emporer is fully clothed, and BAS is not closing. Nor are there loads of redundancies looming. Anyone who is being managed out is a question of performance -- BAS is still recruiting very heavily.Moreover, if BAS is top-heavy and they're getting rid of Directors (news to me), I don't see how that affects someone going on the BAP programme?

I'm in BAS; a Director. My girlfriend told me about this posting.BAS is doing really well. We need another 100+ people this year. We are sold out.Shame that some still try and use this forum for negative press. By the way, I work with Oliver. He's great and not going anywhere !

Having spent 12 months with BAS and had a great time.I would generally agree with the points aboveBAS is here to stay and developing well but it has over promised to people it has hired so expect a fair number to exit in the 6-12 months.

Thats not what i heard. I heard that after spectacular flops like Thames water ( which went to McKinsey) and a few bad government spins, BAS is moving towards dedicating a great percentage of thier consultants to operational consulting - quite different from the 'high level advisory' they preached before...

A few facts... - BAS is an advisory practice not a strategy house- BAS did not complete for any work with Mckinsey at TW- % of resources working across our competencies remains fairly constant with a fairly significant ptoportion focussing on operational performance improvement- its a fun place to work with some great people

what you say "advisory practice" what exactly do you mean? what is the advice they provide? is it basically accountancy advice, i.e. stuff to do with technical company matters?

stop using the word 'competency' and trying to sell work based on value add of 'your values'!! it makes you look like children! stoop for the love of Goooooooood!!!!!!!!!
