Furthering the discussion of the weighty question of how to properly accessorise, which should I get for toting around my corp laptop?Will they take me seriously if I cruise in with the sporty rucksack?Will I look like a pretentious twat toting a briefcase?From a functionality perspective, I prefer the rucksack for the hands-free operation, allowing one to easily carry both a latte and croissant, and perhaps even talk on a mobile while toting said laptop.Or, would I still end up looking like a pretentious twat toting and doing all the above simultaneously anyway?*Sigh*

Get a man-bag. It's a cross between a briefcase and a satchel. Looks great - black leather.

You could go for a decent laptop bag. That way you get the professional look of a briefcase but with a decent padded shoulder strap so you can sling it across your back courier-style when you want to carry your phone/latte/candlestick.There was a thread about laptop bags and luggage a while ago, with recommendations of good manufacturers. It should turn up with a search. I get on well with my Lowepro bag.
