I am currently an experienced consultant SAP Consultant with 10 years of SAP experience (6 years at accenture and 4 years at HP consulting). I just recieved an offer with Capgemini and being told that I will be at a manager level but according my offer letter my title is Senior Application Consultant but grade is manager. Does any one have any info to share with me to ensure me that I will be manager. I don't want to move from HP as I will make manger soon. Would hate to start at capgemini and realize that I back to consultant level. Any thoughts...Below is a extract from my offer letter.......We are pleased to confirm our offer of employment to you to join Capgemini U.S. LLC. We believe that you will find working withus to be both professionally challenging and fulfilling.Upon joining Capgemini in our 333 W Wacker Drive Suite 300, Chicago, IL 60606 office your Global role title will be SeniorApplications Consultant which is equivalent to a local grade of Manager.

What is a "local grade"? Sounds confusing.

Unless there is someone from Capgemini in that specific practice I don't think you're going to get an answer. What is Capgemini offering you that makes you want to leave your current role? If you're going to be promoted to Manager in the near future will this give you the same salary uplift etc that moving to Capgemini now will?I personally think that the answer to these two questions should be more important than whether or not you'll be called a Manager in Capgemini. I think you can get an answer from Capgemini on your specific question - either ask them directly or be more subtle and ask what the promotion/advancement opportunities are and what the next couple of levels would look like. If it goes like this: Title - local equivalent gradeSnr Consultant - Manager Manager - Snr ManagerSnr Manager - DirectorDirector - Partner then that's one thing but it could also go like this:Snr Consultant - Manager Manager - ManagerSnr Manager - Snr ManagerDirector - Director because of some strange career level balancing that happened as a result of expansion or whatever. Hope my Monday morning rambling is of some help.

Things maybe different in US but if you are joining technology services (TS) you should look for the following grade(s)T7 - Senior Consultant - but can be charged out as a project manager, Change Manager etc to a client T8 Manager - this is the internal manager grade in TS although T7 might be a team lead etc but real manager is T8Outsourcing is O grades which I have no idea about. If consulting I think you need to aim for C4 but not 100% sureApplication consultant sounds Like T6 to me not managerAsk is it;-Technology services (T grade)Consulting Services (C grade)Outsourcing (O grade)And then get what it is in t/c/o and you'll get your answerDC

I am not being told grades and being told l am Manager at level. I got a base pay of 144k USD and 10k signing bonus. But I find it so odd that my role is Senior Apps Consultant. I don't understand what local grade of Manger means.Does this salary and bonus seem along the line of Manager? This would be in the SAP Applications Service line.RegardsTP

Who cares what the title is. If the pay is right, I couldn't care less if my job title were toilet cleaner

Hmm. Being a partner is a chore. Yes you have power - of sorts - but you also get the stress that goes with that. It's not the utopia many consider it to be. I would just concentrate on getting as much pay as you can, the rest will take care of itself
