Interview Feedback

Hi,Can someone please explain the rational for Accenture not giving feedback after an unsuccessful interview? Is it for legal reasons? After spending 1 hour and 45 minutes been interviewed by phone, the standard response (see below) appears at first sight to be curt and will not aid me in preparing for future interviews. Is this lack of feedback now standard UK recruitment practice? I ask this because I have recently returned to UK after spending a number of years working aboard and I can remember a time when people based organizations would give unsuccessful candidates interview feedback because they genuinely wanted to help people succeed in their careers. Thanks!= = = I would like to thank you for taking the time to speak with my colleague recently. We have carefully considered your application to join us and I am sorry to inform you that we have decided not to proceed any further at this stage. As I am sure you can appreciate, the standard of applications we receive is very high and the utmost care is taken over our selection. These decisions are not taken lightly and I can assure you that both your interests and our own are carefully considered when making these decisions. I regret that we cannot give any further feedback on first interviews other than that detailed above.I am grateful for the interest you have shown in the Company and wish you every success in your future career.= = =

I had the same from Accenture. They never give feedback from what I have heard. Deloitte's are ok, but everyone is really polite and diplomatic, so I'm not sure how helpful it is for future interviews. E&Y are the same as Deloitte. PwC gives one-way feedback which is pretty curt and unhelpful. Accenture and PwC appear to have the rudest and unbothered HR people, in my experience!

I would say it;s due to the vast number of applicants these companies get for each position. To reply to everyone with feedback would take up far too much time and would be of no benefit to the hr dep't. They are not a charity.

I agree, the harsh reality is that they don't want you and they don't feel that they owe you anything. It's easy to see their point of view - next time you're splitting up with a girl (or boy) just imagine how much easier it would be if you could drop them an e-mail and then not have to provide any awkward answers!

I didn't mean it to sound rude or anything but the point is, they have better things to do with their time than help out people who they don't want to work for them.We would all like to get constructive feedback on why we don't get jobs but the fact is you just have to self-analyze as best you can ('Did i really understand what firm x do?','Do i have enough extra-curricular on my cv?' etc.) and try not to make the same slip-ups next time.

I interviewed with Accenture (as an experienced hire) earlier in the year, made it through to second round interview with a Senior Exec. They took a long long time to give me a decision, when they did give a decision I followed up with a request for further feedback, they then very quickly came back with detailed feedback which was very useful...Interestingly one of their reasons for rejecting me was that they did not believe I really wanted to work for them (which was probably true)!!
