I recently passed the Deloitte TI 2nd round Assessment for consultant.I'm currently at ACN BSI but my real strengths are in technology.A few days ago I would have jumped at the chance, however a senior manager who recently left Accenture for Deloitte has returned after just a few weeks.The rumour in the playground is that the SM in question has been saying Deloitte TI is full of "Accenture rejects who don't know what they are doing" (quote from my current ACN Senior Manager).Any opinions an this? I personally do not place much value on the quote for a number of reasons, but want to guage opinion here. In my shoes what would you choose to do?Also bear in mind that Accenture UK has promised off-cycle pay increases to its consulting staff early next year (probably to stem the attrition tide caused by the last lot of tinkering with peoples pay).With the improved work/life balance at Deloitte and the prospect of being paid overtime, this shouldn't really be a no-brainer shouldn't it??thanks,Boz

Mr Tomato,I was told that by the head of one of the TI Operating Groups.I take it from your response that you are not recieving overtime?He also told me that SC level and above qualify for bonuses, is this inaccurate as well?regards,Boz

I doubt anyone's been paid overtime since the dot.com bubble burst, anywhere. Deloitte don't pay overtime, however the hours tend to be much more reasonable than at many of the competitors.Bonus for SC and above is correct, anyone below this grade can qualify for a one-off Outstanding Contribution Award of up to £2k.

Boz - I must echo the thread above. The last time I was paid overtime was by Accenture in 2002...In my experience work-life balance has generally been ok at Deloitte, and better overall than the rest of the big-4 where I've worked. That said, it is very much down to client expectations and your engagement manager / partner's own attitudes - these have been a real mixed bag so far.
