Hi All, I am at the consultant level with SCI at KPMG, specialising in CDD. On my list there is the MBA to do in a few years time - all I am afraid is that my currently employer is not prestigious enough to warrant me to get in!My academics, leadership and other qualities are above average - however I am really fretting this. Should I be worried?

Gavin: Odd that you seem to think Harvard is the be-all-and-end-all. There are a great many MBA programmes around that will provide you with a first-class education. If you're after the prestige factor, Harvard is not #1. Or even #2. It comes in as 7th.Don't sweat the school. Focus on what you need to get into any of the top programmes (look at the top 50 globally) and you certainly will benefit enormously from any of these. Sure, Harvard is a good school, no mistake. But remember that it's not the only school ...

American MBAs like to see whole people. A "job" just like being a "graduate" is not really enough. Have you had a small business? Do you want one? Have you changed anything while at KPMG? Are you involved in something athletic, community focused, etc? What do you want to do once you have an MBA? Do you really need a business degree for that? If you don't know why you want an MBA, I'd recommend holding off until you have something to say. And IF you're bored at KPMG in the meantime, cut loose and do something interesting/satisfying.
