I have a question about my MBA scheduling. I have 4 years experience - with a promotion to manager looming in the next 12 months ( i have jumped level twice)I am weary of going too far into the ranks before my MBA. Deloitte, Mckinsey etc recruit MBAs at Associate or SC level. What if you were at that level before leaving? Do you come back as a manager? Or will they not recruit you at a higher level because of your peer group? This is a very hard move for me to make, any insight would be appreciated. I am thinking of waiting another two years ( I am only 25) before going to gain some more valuable experience - however scared that I will take a step 'back' when done with the degree. Has anyone ever been in this position or have advice? Thank you

If you're progressing well at the moment, why do an MBA? I realise that it has benefits other than helping your career progress, but none of it is rocket science. I think if you're well on your way to becoming a manager (big step up), you should go for it, get some experience managing, and then evaluate whether you need an MBA to help you progress further or not. I did an MBA because I needed a change in my career, and it helped me do that, but if you're happy with your job and where it's heading, I can't see how an MBA would be a big benefit now.

sail away firstly congrats about ur progress so far!the most important that u should be aware of(regardless if u do mba or not) is NOT TO leave before ur promotion!this exists in any transition. in such dilemmas patience of few months, and recognition of ur efforts help u for ur next step......apart from that i am of the opinion "never leave or change sth" that works best for u, it's bad timing...........i am about to start an mba in 3 months too, but i decided to do it simultaneously with my job (even if that means that i ll have no free weekend for 1.5 year) but i am not willing to "leave" the market 'when the land is rich;ps sorry for my english:-)
