hahaa firstly those arent the big 4 - they are rather Deloitte, EY, PWC and KPMG ( and I would rank them in this order for consulting)the other you mentioned are from very different groups...

Julian, if you're talking about a big 4 in consulting then this is very subjective. Personally, I'd say they were ACN, IBM, Capgemini, ATOS in that order for prestige but very differently as a place to work.

I should add that the above is a list on full service consultancies. The "Big 4" in Strat, Change, SCM would be different again

I don't think there's a lot of subjectivity about this one. Traditionally, when one referred to the Big 8, Big 6, Big 5, or Big 4, they were referring to the largest accounting houses (which, of course, used to house very large consulting organisations as well): Deloitte, EY, PWC and KPMG.Using the term "Big 4" without a modifier outside this context is likely to cause confusion. Most people would describe Accenture, CapGemini, BearingPoint and Deloitte as the "old consulting arms of the Big 4/Big 5" rather than as the Big 4.And if you were talking about McKinsey, Bain, BCG and Booz you'd probably reference the "Big 4 Strat Houses"Clear as mud?

It depends on the type of consulting but here's my starter for 10:Technology Consulting (inc Outsourcing)> Accenture - CG - Deloitte - BPBusiness Consulting> Deloitte - Accenture - BP/CGTraining is a red herring, a topic that makes applicants look keen when they ask about it at interview, and which the companies love talking about because they think applicants really care. You'll learn on the job more than in a classroom, regardless whether you spend 1 day, a week or a month per year on training. So your question should be "how much will I learn at these different consultancies?". In which case the above order stands, imho.
