Incredibly, I have been invited in for a first round as a strategy and operations manager at Google. ( I am currently a strategy manager in a big 4) I wanted to ask what you guys thought of this move and how prestigious you would rate the client?Would it be, salary and rank aside, a good move in terms of industry experience and prestige? Please advise! Beng? VI? Thanks

A friend who was a strategy consultant at Accenture has just made this move in the last 3 months. Really loving the role from what I can tell and excited to be part of such a fast-moving business. In terms of being good for your career, surely that's a rhetorical question?! Having Google on your CV has to be on a par with having McKinsey on your CV in terms of prestige. Assuming online / media / marketing is the general direction you want to take your career...Good luck with the interview process! Tony

Tony - any advice then for the interviews? Do you know what the salary brackets are like and how they compare to consulting? Much appreciated

Pirlo - I know that it was a gruelling series of ~10 (count them!) interviews to get to offer stage, but I don't know if this is typical or not I'm afraid. I'm sure a bit of searching on Google should turn up some useful insights though!Tony

Tony - Coincidentally I come from Accenture SBA too. Would it be possible, if you deem appropriate, for me to give you a call ? Perhaps you could forward my CV over to your friend and let him know that I have an interview scheduled?

Hi man,I think it's a wonderful opportunity that it's given to you!!! let's talk numbers: the stock exchange capitalization of google is about 128 Billion dollars. 5 of 4000 employees are billionaires. 1000 of 4000 employees are millionaires. for Google co-founders, sharing the sucess of the companies with employees is a must!!!Other thing, as experts say: google is becoming the pionner of internet marketing!!! Honestly, it's a big a chance Ahmed

HI Ahmed - a few questions!Yes i know the stats are brilliant. However a few things I am weary about. It does seem to be EXTREMELY difficult to get in ( over McKinsey ) with some stories of people interviewing 14 times for a PR role? And also - how well would you rate a job in strategy there to then come back in consulting or go do an MBA?Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

He Jose,Personnaly, I don't see any prb to move & back to consultancy, it's just question about good reasons. Actually, moving to the operationnal side(google) may give our firend a lot of benefits(making decision, negociation, and google culture which one of the most respectful...)Personnaly, I think doing strategy at google will be more benefic than doing it at Mckinsey, for the sample reason that at mckinsey u just recommand a solution....
