With various big companies attending the fair with specific openings they are trying to fill "with x years of consulting experience", and experienced consultants going for them... is there any chance someone who wants to get into consulting from industry holds a chance??Who is this fair really for? Consultants wanting to change firm?

No actually I haven't. I have a 2.1 and a masters. I think we both know that this is not the only thing they look at. My point was more that if companies can find someone with the exact/direct experience they prefer to take that person. Which is understandable, but then why do consultants and companies and career fairs encourage industry people to apply as well?

#0 Careers Fair - for all experienced hires

Consulting firms are having great difficulties in recruiting enough staff at present - and so are most definitely interested in hiring people from outside consulting who have blue-chip corporate experience, public sector experience, legal or accounting experience, etc.So in answer to your question, the Careers Fair is for anyone who is not a fresh graduate (there are other fairs that cater to people who are looking for their first job after university). The consulting firms actually asked us to reach as broad an audience as possible with this year's fair - and so it's been marketed on accounting websites, exec websites, city-oriented websites, etc.If you're trying to break into consulting from outside the industry then there probably isn't a better time than right now.For full details see:http://www.theconsultancycareersfair.comHope to see you there. I am exactly like that, coming from Telco (Vodafone partner in Croatia, strategy, management, MBA), looking for job opportunities in London and in many occasions Consulting looked like a logical step for me to start in London; Tony, I send you an e-mail with my CV, if you find it convenient I would like to briefly meet you tomorrow at the Fair to speak about job possibilities for me?
