I have a 1st Interview at E & Y - experienced level - for Finance & Performance Management (BAS). My background is in commerce (int'l SME's) and I have no prior experience in consulting. I was told it would be a 90 minute session including a case study (10 min preparation & 40 min Q&A on the case). Any tips ? Thanks

the presentation is quite challenging - its IB style given to at least 4 directors. Its by no means sitting at your laptop and flicking through ppt. it is tough. their is also an assessment day

The leadership team in F&PM are almost exclusively ex-IBM and have brought much of their politics with them. For a newbie in consulting, I'd think long and hard before joining us here. With the well publicised SOX raid on our offices last month, there is even a question mark over how viable it is for an accounting firm like ours to run not one but two consultancy (oops ... advisory) arms, in the form of FS and BAS

"The leadership team in F&PM are almost exclusively ex-IBM and have brought much of their politics with them. "That's crap! There's are 2 partners, one IBM and one CG and the Directors are a mix of ACN, CG, IBM and other big 4.

Just to add -- another new partner has joined, ex-KPMG.The info that you've received is correct -- the first interview is split between the case study and a detailed walk-through of your career/project experience to date.

Im at BAS and its the worst deciscion I have made in my life - i'm desperately trying to salvage a move. I have 10 years of experience, came in as snr manager with a good package - only to find out that the majority of the people hired here are on a completely different scale of intelligence than my previous employer ( strat house)be warned

One of the rather obvious perils/downsides of such rapid growth. I'd expect the average calibre to increase as the first generation of low performers gets culled, though.

Thanks for these replies. To EYer, does the detailed walk-through of the career/project experience to date, done verbally only or are there forms to be filled ?Also, for the case study, is the Q&A verbal only or does it involve some form of written presentation? Thanks

Both CV walkthrough and case-study are verbal, although you'll be provided with paper in the case study in case you want to make notes and/or work anything out.

I had the interview and it was as you described it, a 90 minutes session with a case study (10 minutes to rewad it) and then Q&A on it and then a classic interview on your background and what you want to do and bring to the table. It was a bit boring actually! Thanks

Sorry you found the classic interview boring. Most people find the second interview much more interesting (and challenging).Good luck!
