Hey allI am interested in relocating to the UK from Sydney. I currently work in the strategy practice of a consulting firm with approximately 4 years experience. Does anyone if there are any examples of UK firms who are willing to interview (and provide job offer) whilst still being in the foreign country?Or do I need to obtain the necessary visas and be interviewing in the UK in person?Thanks!!!

I'm by know means an expert but my guess is that it is very unlikely that you could get the whoel thing sorted out in Oz, even if it was with a multinational I don't think they could do it that way. On the postive most of the big firms pay towards travel costs- this is usually a train fare from 100 miles away rather than half the world but its still worth investigating. I know that if you have an MBA from a top business school our government rolls out the red carpet for you. Out of interest why do you want to move over here?-just new experiences etc, the £ goes along way etc. I do love my country and everything but I imagine quality of life in Sydney is higher, kiss goodbye to the sun until global warming kicks in. Of course there are also loads of good reasons to come here too.

Seeing as our cultural ties are closer to Auz/Nz why the hell is it that we can get a job anywhere in the EU etc but we don't have similar arrangements with our antipodian chums. Who gives a rats ass that they can go and work in Estonia (no offense comrades), but how great would it be if we could go and work in Wellington or Melbourne for a few years. At least the immigrants would already speak the lingo too. As to the original question I'm sure my hypotheticalities have been pretty unhelpful, but at least I got that off my cheast.
