Now im not a consultant - i just follow this site for laughs. Im in a profession that makes the real dosh, Beng. And its not IB excel crunching. I think you are above average intelligence. That still leaves you well below the average here my friend. You want challenge? You want 120%? My friend, you have NO idea of what that means. Enjoy the read. http://www.leveragedsellout.com/2006/02/the-shitshow/

Consulting....pfftt......work 60hrs+ every week and earn peanuts.....ummm.....no thank you! What rocks is oil and gas.....am 25 i earn 9K pounds a year and thats when i am at base. If i travel i get 50% uplift and still only rack up 40hrs a week....that leaves me enough time for gym, my three girlfriends. Obviously the hours will change when i run the company but hey...enjoy my youth.....i say to you all my friends.JUMP TO OIL AND GAS......its the golden fluid that drives our BEAUT WORLD!

It's been another week since I last checked this Board and I need a quick pick-me-up....Jorge - First off, I'm not your "friend". Second, just because you have a link to leveragedsellout.com (which, by the way, is mostly works of fiction you DUNCE) doesn't prove you work in PE. I actually have friends and former B-school classmates in PE, and if you believed that the stories in leveragedsellout.com were real, then you're not in PE. You're not even worthy of being in KPMG. Just crawl back to your burger-flipping job at McD.Tom Dick Harry - On a previous thread, you claimed that we work for the same MC "Firm". Now on this thread, you claim to be in PE or corporate recovery. So which is it? You can't even be consistent in your bullshit? C'mon...I presumed you to be at least smarter than the the burger-flipper at McD (see above guy named "Jorge")... but I guess not.

To all those reading this stupid thread -- consulting is not the pinnacle...neither is IB nor PE. Each has its pros and cons. At the end of the day, we're all just working stiffs trying our best to make a good living, to be challenged in our chosen profession, and to make a difference )(to our employers/shareholders and to our clients). But this Board is for MCs, and people interested in a career in MC. Idiots like Jorge and and TDH should start their own Board on IB and PE if they think so lowly of us MCs.

Beng. I agree generally with your sentiments, but not with your presentation of them. Calling folks idiots, etc. is not what I'd call good manners and smack of a certain arrogance. Take it from me, a seasoned consultant, that what goes around comes around. If you take that kind of tone with us on this forum, then you are probably prone to doing so with your clients. This kind of behaviour is not sustainable out there, so suggest you tone it done a notch or seven if you want to be successful in the longer term. Consulting, more than ANYTHING else, is about dealing with people ...

You guys are all funny. It's actually quite obvious that Beng is merely putting on an act. The anonymity of this Board means that he can be as obnoxious as he chooses to be, but I suspect he is not that way in real life. If you read his earliest threads, you'll know what I mean. The fact is that out of all the people giving advice on this Board, Beng is one of the few who consistently gives the most useful info pertaining to top-tier mgt consultancies. He spells it like it is, cuts to the chase, and provides the most insight. I know some are probably offended by his style, by many are probably more amused than anything else. I prefer his substance over his style anyway. I read this Board not to be coddled, but to get insights in fairly short order. If it's delivered in a humorous way (even though it's quite dark humor), then it's a bonus.Note how people just beat up on him, but don't offer any practical or insightful advice of their own. Jealous perhaps?
