Hello
06.10.6 00:00

Does anyone have any experience with or idea of work done by Business Consulting division of SAP. How does it compare with IT business consulting work done by Accenture, IBM etc. Thanks in advance.

Not wanting to be facetious, but the work will be more SAP-centric than a lot of the work done by Accenture or IBM. It'll be good place to work if you want to specialise in SAP, get a head start on latest and best modules, and similar to certain SAP implementation roles that you'd find in Accenture/IBM. However, the scope of the work may be more limited - SAP consulting will be brought in once a lot of the big decisions (such as the choice of SAP systems) have been made whilst Accenture/IBM might have more opportunity to advise on those decisions in the first place.

Hello
08.10.6 00:00

Thanks Frank. I can imagine that work will be quite focused on SAP. But I just want to understand if there is scope to do generic consulting work on IT strategy, vendor selection, quality assurance, etc. ( of course, the underlying motive of the firm will always be to sell more SAP software ).

By definition, most of the things you've asked about will be out-of-scope. By the time SAP are called in to offer advice, the IT strategy will have already been determined and the vendor (eg SAP) will have already been selected. As a consultant at SAP, I would expect a typical project to be one of two things: firstly, helping customers new to SAP configure it correctly and roll out the SAP business processes; secondly, helping existing SAP customers get the best value and process improvement from their SAP implementations. If you don't have career ambitions to work in the SAP space, you're better off going to one of the more generalist IT houses.
