I just had a terrible, terrible interview. The questions were hard etc etc.But the funny thing is that I really enjoyed it! I'm clearly a weirdo....

You are clearly a strong person, in my opinion. It's corny but as Nietzsche siad, the things that do not kill you make you stronger.....a negative interview can be very empowering and can provide invaluble material which will improve you performance in the future. Chin up! Write down you immediate feelings - they will be key for your next interview (s).

I have found that the harder the interview the more likely I am to be offered the job. The "easy" interviews do not differentiate candidates so the decision is made on first impression, age, weight, accent, skin colour etc..The "hard" interviews are much better at differentiating based on communication skills and what you have actually done. All candidates are given a similar hard time and no reason to think your performance is going to be worse. So I always love a hard interview too....with some exceptions.

Hey All, thanks for the words of encouragementI don't want to say who the interview was with, because, well, I know that this board is frequented by A LOT of people who have a hand in recruiting.I was asked a lot of questions like - what are the current US interest rates, what did the FTSE end at last night (which i knew - go me!), so that part at least wasn't too bad. Some other stuff too, but really I just felt a bit like the questions were out to get me. I don't know, I guess it tests mental agility and stuff. The thing is that I had more than one interview on the day and the more 'spontaneous' one was with a BA (ie a peer, my age etc) and I just thought maybe the person thought I was a little stupid, to be fair :)Oh well!!!! This was for a job i didn't really want, and I went for the interview practice really, and I got that, so it's not as bad as it could be. I just wanted to tell people. I would tell my mother but she doesn't even understand what consulting is, so.....

If it makes you any better, I've been a consultant for years. My mother still doesn't understand what I do.
