Hi all,I'd very much appreciate some advice from anyone who has ever found themselves in a similar situation to me. I have been an Analyst in Accenture's government group for 10 months and I'm pretty sick of it already.I'm fed up with doing routine, boring work for massive, slow moving goverment IT projects and I would like to move into strategy consulting in order to get more interesting, challenging, varied work.I know I'm still very inexperienced, but I'm hoping that my brief period with Accenture will count for something in the eyes of a recruiter. As far as I can see I have the following options:1. Go back to square 1 and apply for graduate schemes with strategy firms, hoping that my experience will give me a bit of a head start over typical graduates. 2. Try to move into Accenture's strategy section (very difficult apparently - everyone wants to do it!)3. Stick it out with Accenture for a bit longer then go for an experienced hire position somewhere else (a bit more strategy and less IT focused preferably)4. Give up on all this and learn to love Accenture! (unlikely)

Since you mentioned you were an analyst, I presume you have an undergraduate degree only. The "easiest" and most tried-and-true path to getting into strat consulting is to go get your MBA at a top-tier b-school. Yes, some will say you don't need an MBA...and yes, you don't...if you're truly a superstar or your uncle is a partner at McK. But if you want to get noticed, if you want the alumni network (makes a huge difference), if you want a ready-made path to the firm of your choice/dreams, b-school is the way to go.

I would try to move into Accenture's strategy consulting practice. It is not as difficult as you think (I did it and have since left Accenture).

Any tips on how to do this? I'm starting at Deloitte in different consulting area and would like to transfer to strategy.. Do you think it's wise to work for a few months before telling them or just come out with it at the start?
