No problem at all - glad I can be of some use.I don't know what Accenture offer at manager level - I am not quite there yet, with only 3 years of experience. Also visibility of salaries is very opaque within IBM, I am sure you will be offered a higher salary coming from the market than you would be coming up through the ranks internally - as I did.I will give you some guidelines - I think the manager 'Band 8' rate can be from 50-80 (I would check glass-door for better coverage). Given your 8 years experience - as long as it is extensive and with a reputable organisation - I would recommend seeking somewhere towards the top of that band. You can look to make Senior Manager, Band 9 within 1 or 2 years of joining with some focus upon joining, again another 20% pay increase. From my experience at a Consultant level - Accenture offer 20% on top of IBM (at the higher bands I have no idea). I won't go into pro's and con's in detail, but I would say take IBM if you are a family man or someone who appreciates their free time, work life balance is beyond excellent for a consultant and on some projects beyond a joke! Take Accenture if you are more career focused, you are willing to work longer hours, but for more pay and for a better 'brand'.Can't shed any light on the housing situation other than, IBM are very flexible with your 'base location', i.e. where you call home. You will be expected to travel up to 90% of your time - so even if your base is London and you don't feel you can viably live there, rent a house outside of London - you can very easily get by with only spending a week or 2 there in the office a year.
