Hello everyone :) I am a qualified playworker and deputy of a after school club charity. I am 21, started volunteering at the setting when I was 16, hired within the year and became deputy of the charity in March of 2013.I have also been volunteering at the local children's hospital for almost 3 years. My goal was to be hired as a hospital play assistant and after a few years hopefully train to become a Hospital play specialist. But recently, in my city there has been restructuring of the hospitals, now moving the 5 play staff of one hospital the main site (which all ready had 14 play staff, despite all of them being women which I believe is somewhat unfair to for some of the male patients). So unless one suddenly quits I am very unlikely to pursue this career, at least for a time.I do want to help people, and I know I have a very good report with people, especially children. If anyone can help provide guidance on how to proceed I will be very grateful.Thank you :)

Hiya Freehugs, it sounds like a lovely career direction... the world needs more people like you!In terms of what to do, I would treat it just like any other job search. Get your CV ready, get networking, check job sites, apply and so on

If there is such a place as heaven, this guy already has somebody up there holding a place for him at the front of the queue I'm sure.

Also, Freehugs, there are loads of children's charities out there that do great work and that can offer good careers:BarnardosSureStart centresAction for ChildrenSave the Childrenand so on...Many of these charities are very large organisations and have many opportunities for getting involved directly on the "front line" if that's what you would want. With your obvious level of commitment and your 'A-1' attitude, you'll have no problem getting the job you want.

Unfortunately there is no place as Heaven. When you're dead, you're cold, lifeless worm food. Not something to tell a sick kid though....
