You're joining a team with solely a client base in London Bridge, that's quite a niche/small market. Alarm bells are ringing by the fact you don't know what the environment is like, the work they do or the type of travel? What information did you use to aid your decision-making process?

that's not what he said. he said "london bridge (PwC office) based / client based" meaning the role is based out of that office but in reality he will spend the majority of his time on client site.

Will you be doing M&A in the IT/technology sector or be providing IT Advisory services on M&A transactions?

I know exactly what I'll be doing.Working on M&A cross-sector performing IT Due Diligence, Carve-Outs, Divestment, Opereating Models etc. Anything you would expect a Private Equity buyer to know/want to know before making a purchase. What I was after, is how often do the consultants travel? Is it a global team? Do they travel to the USA for example or is there a USA team out there. Thanks for the comments folks...

There's not a lot of travel as the team partner is a big air miles collector and leaves his staff to dial into management meetings by phone. Most of DDV's work is due diligence which is office-based and accessing electronic data rooms. There are similar teams in most of the big financial centres, so they get involved rather than flying people out.

Just to appease my devastation about not getting into DDV; when you say long hours, I assume these are long hours are amplifed by the deal-driven pressure?!

Ver long hours, and frankly mind numbing work trawling through very dull figures and triple checking dubious estimates. The Wolf of Wall Street it is not...Did one, where my role was to estimate the impact of the potential divestment on the businesses shared service model. I worked nice slow hours with a few easy-ish trips to an attractive European City. The banks internal corporate m&a team and the big4 support team worked 14 hours a day, seven days a week, for about eight weeks. Deal fell apart and didn't even happen!!!
