1) Show initiative- do what your project manager asks of you and then have a think about what he or she will ask you to do next (based on this) and have a first go at doing this2) Offer to help out- offer to help with things on the project that aren't directly your responsibility (e.g., proof reading a deck before a SteerCo, helping a colleague with an analysis). This will be noticed and will reflect well on you as well as helping you develop faster3) Seek out and act on feedback- on every project, book a 15 minute feedback session weekly with your project manager and every 2 weeks with the partner to ask them what you could do better and make a point of acting on thisIn terms of preparing, I don't think there's anything you can usefully do. Use the time to go on holiday and relax. If you feel you absolutely must do something, spend some time working on your Excel and PPT skills_____________________________________________I've started www.theconsultingcoach.com to give advice on getting a job in consulting and working as a consultant
