I have a Manager grade offer both from PwC's Forensic Services Data Analytics and from Deloitte's Corporate Finance Forensics. The salary and benefits package offered by both are very similar but, I'd like to know more about the work side. Can you please throw some light on which one has a better scope from a 5-7 years future perspective? Being a woman, I liked the fact that during my interviews I saw women at senior positions at Deloitte. On the other hand PWC came across very technical in terms of data analytics technologies they use. I haven't worked with any of the Big 4s earlier, so, any thoughts on both the companies' work culture (particularly for women) will be welcome. Thanks a lot in advance

Go back to both and ask them - 'what are you doing proactively to encourage female consultants to remain in the business and progress into senior roles?'. Ask to arrange a meeting with a senior woman in the business - whether or not they can provide one will tell you volumes. You have every right - and it will reflect on you very positively - to push them both on these issues and see how they stand up. If you took the gender question out and balanced them otherwise, don't discount the strong technical aspects at Deloitte (they are more Son of Accenture than Big 4 these days anyway) and working in corp finance expect the hours to be punishing as clients will expect to see Deloitte consultants keeping pace with their own (highly demanding) staff. And who is to say the tech wont fascinate you anyway? I suspect there isn't much between PwC and Deloitte in these areas, other than some slight divergences in particular areas where PwC might have a legacy edge eg more traditional forensic areas.

Thank you very much for your response, it was very helpful. I am glad to know that Deloitte is also very technical as I have a technical background myself. I will do as you suggested and ask them to put me in touch with a woman in a senior position and go from there. Thanks again.
