Anyone see the docu last night about the plague victims whose skeletons were discovered in the cross rail dig in Charterhouse Square? It got me thinking. Firstly it made me think whether those skeletons were in fact the remains of commuters who were waiting for the train during one of Crowe's strikes, but then, my mind, agile as ever, moved on to all matters consulting.And..What would the management consultancy response be, to a pandemic like the Black Death?

I'd explain to my clients that it is the fleas living on management consultants, and not management consultants themselves that are causing the spread of the bacteria.

There were three significant impacts of the plague in the UK during the reign of King Stephen (and the Empress Maud if you are a historian...)1. Lots of people died - tragedy of biblical proportions.2. Famine due to an absence of people to till the land and bring in the already poor harvest (weather was appalling for a number of years)3. And this is the big one, assuming you're a survivor....The absence of land workers led to the king relaxing a strict rule that workers could only work for their "lord". Instead they were able to move villages and do extra work for other landowners. Clever landowners reacted by paying slightly more, thus leading to people focusing their efforts on the higher paid jobs. The job market was born. so....plague...shortage of workers...rates go up.Bring it on!
