Not been a manager for long however one thing is certain be a leader not a boss and your people will respect you and want to work for you. By this I mean set the objective, work with the team to achieve the common goal, share your experiences with the juniors, discuss blockers, escalate as necessary. My current manager has not learnt many of these skills and his cardinal sins include: attempting to remote manage, only talks to staff to get the detail and exert pressure constantly.Previous bosses I have been impressed with are people orientated, thought leaders, and able to take feedback both positive and constructive. And before anyone says it no this is not meant to be self promotion .....
