Hi,I have been told that I am going to be offered a managing consultant role, so to help me negotiate a better package I wanted to know the salary range and do they have any flex benefit in terms of % which you can take as cash? I have 13 years of experience of which 8 years in consulting. Thanks

Hi YoYo,I attended a IBM GBS experienced hires assessment day a few weeks ago, but haven't heard anything back. The recruiter said there had been a delay in approving hires. When/how did you hear they were going to make you an offer? Thanks

So they are offering you a Band 9? Frankly what comes out in the offer will be more or less best offer. You could try to negotiate but the time it takes for the wheels to turn in IBM, and their hiring ticket system, means you could be in for a protracted process if you want to ask for a better offer.Key thing there will be what service line, time to grade (assume B10/AP?) etc - these things really do count for more with big blue. Chances are once you get to South Bank you'll spend you first 3 years hopelessly lost in the basement anyway.

Could be 8, are they calling B9 'senior managing consultant' or something now? Either way with 13 years experience, 8 of them in consulting, I would be a bit miffed with a B8 offer..

If you've never been in consulting IBM may be the best way to ease yourself into it. At the end of the day it's all the same thing because you spend 99% of your time on a client site. Most people won't even know you're IBM or Accenture etc. Get the best deal! The only thing I'd consider is expectations while you're at the client e.g. work 10-12 hours a day vs work 8-10.Do you have more details on your offers?
