I am in a dilemma. Tempted to decline an offer from one of the big 4s due to wrong level, cut in pay, not very sure of their consulting pipeline. What people say?

These all seem like absolutely valid reasons to turn down on offer.... What is leading to you not turning it down given that the level is wrong and that you are taking a pay cut?!

Uhhhhhhhh......... 1. Wrong level 2. Cut in pay 3. Not sure of their pipeline...Now, what do you think Albert Einstein would do in this "Dilemma" as you put it?Do you think he would: a) Say "GREAT!!!!!" and punch the air and sign the contract immediately? b) Tell them to stick it up their rear end.

What is giving you doubts about their pipeline ? Im currently interviewing with one of the big 4s and I would like to know how you would typically suss out a little less than busy pipeline. Not like its something they would willingly admit to during an interview.

inconsistent reply from interviewers, response like 'ok let me think', 'hmmm thats a good question', ' as far as i know we have x y z, what else'. you can feel it when they talk about their pipeline.
wrong level, cut in pay, not very sure of their consulting pipeline.
Good stuff from the Big 4. The correct response is either 'hmmmm that's an offer', 'ok let me think' or 'my polish plumber has a better pipeline'.

Well, well, well. On the very day that a long standing recruitment contact if mine e-mails me to announce the end of their latest sabbatical, mars returns to the forum!A coincidence to far, methinks!Mars - are you in fact my old friend Esmerelda Plunderguff, ex-professor of burlesque at Hamburg University, now Sr Vice President of SAP Business Analyst Consultancy Recruitment at Michael Page?

I thought Mars's specialism was recruiting "dynamic high-achievers for exciting senior management opportunities with £££competitive compensation in the rapidly-growing field of business process mapping for bespoke legacy ERP systems in the public sector that run on AS/400 hardware"?

Don't bother mentioning the pipeline point. That will just annoy and not needed. It probably isnt true also; if they didn't have the pipeline they wouldn't be recruiting.Salary and grade and fine reasons to say no.
