Donna I think you are going to struggle to get a consulting firm interested, even for the grad scheme. Consultancy is a conservative industry (perhaps a hang over from its accountancy beginnings) - they will be looking for a 'classical' education - 2.1 Degree, in a difficult subject, from a good university. As it sounds like you have working experience I suspect you may also be too mature for grad scheme entry - you would normally have graduated in the last 1 - 2 years or so. And with a daughter to consider you may also find the travel commitments could be a deal breaker for you (although many consultants do manage to compromise travel and family life it is one of the main reasons experienced hires leave the industry).Perhaps look at your own industry more laterally - are there opportunities around interesting projects you could get involved in? Consultancy type work is undertaken by internal teams as well as external consultants, and often the two collaborate closely - which could be a route in if you impress a programme lead enough for them to want you on board.Hope this helps?
