1) Which small firm/what sector and function? There's a difference between a small firm like Katzenbach Partners and a small firm like Frampton Consultants2) What were you doing before consulting? There's a difference between being mayor of New York before moving into consulting, vs. just finishing your GCSEs before getting a job in the postroom.3) Are you a senior consultant (job title) or a senior (adjective) consultant (noun)? There's a difference between being called a senior consultant when that is the lowest position in the firm, vs. being a consultant who has senior responsibilities for sales and management of the firm.

Put simply you are worth whatever someone will pay for you. As a guideline look at what consultants with 5 years experience are paid in the big firms which work in similar areas to you, add about 20% and this is roughly what you will be worth in best case scenario. Roughly. But in the current economy its a good off the cuff guide.

Top-Consultant's salary benchmarking report was published in Autumn 2009 and in the current market things really aren't going to have changed markedly since then. So I'd download the PDF report and judge which category of consultant is most similar to your own profile to get a really quite accurate figure.Hope this helps and good luckTony RestellTop-Consultant.com

"Put simply you are worth whatever someone will pay for you"Or, if you follow the advice put forward by many of the recruiters on here and go around telling them your current salary before they've even made you a job offer, then you are worth your current salary plus 10% maximum.
