Hello allI have to take my team of 6 out for a classy night to celebrate the end of the project. Looking for a great restaurant in dubai: thinking luxury, steaks or seafood or asian, great views etc. Money no object.Any recommendations from a well travelled crowd?Thank you in advanceS.P

Al Mahara - http://www.jumeirah.com/en/Hotels-and-Resorts/Destinations/Dubai/Burj-Al-Arab/Restaurants-And-Nightlife/Al-Mahara/But seriously, why not give them a bit of spending money and an extra week of instead?

Also, I wouldn't like to make too many assumptions, but, assuming they don't have it already, why not try and give them the gift of job security?I can't even recall the number of times I have seen partners crack open the champagne bottles at the end of a project, surrounded by nervous analysts who are doing their best to look pleased and happy yet who are secretly 5hitting themselves about the prospect of getting a new contract, finding a new project, or basically finding something new to do so that they can continue bringing home a paycheque and paying the mortgage.

"why not give them a bit of spending money and an extra week off instead?"Because its about celebrating as a team, what a team has achieved."why not try and give them the gift of job security"Because you'd struggle to spend £500 a head in even the most expensive restaurant - hardly the sort of saving that woudl preserve jobs if there was a crisis.

OK, fair points. One other suggestion, though - why not carry out the celebration on the firm's time? After a long and tough project, maybe they want to go home and have some time with friends and family (or even just themselves) rather than spending an evening with work colleagues that they may have already been spending a little too much time with as of late?

I'd much rather an extra day's hols, or a cheque for £100 than another expense account meal out with the same tw@ts I've been cooped uo with for the past six months

Miserable bunch. Good on you for taking the team out, it's good to celebrate and have some time to unwind. Can't help on the restaurant front though!

Oh my god! You really are a bunch of whiners. Someone decides to do something good and asks for advice and you lot are so far up your own as*es that you have to have a whine. Do you not read the posts. You were asked for restaurants not ideas on what to do.

Hey, that's not fair! We did answer the question (see Frank Spencer's reply) and then went the extra mile and gave advice as to how the well-intentioned offering may in practice be received by the team.Peter Andre gets it. After 6 months of having hotel dinners with your colleagues you have been cooped up with, yet another evening dinner may not exactly be top of their 'wants' list. In fact, I can say it would actually be pretty much at the bottom of my own 'wants' list. I would far rather just have the evening off, even if it meant surfing the net in a hotel room, having a swim, phoning home, watching MTV or being on a plane flying back home!

Being stuck out in the Middle East with work colleagues for a minute more than I have to be, would be my idea of hellGive them a nice cash bonus and a few days off if you really want to thank them. The idea of getting hammered and yet another fatty overpriced meal with people who wont even be working with me in two or three years is really unimaginative and shows what little respect your company has for work-life balance. At the very least, give each member of staff the choice of what they would like to do. I'd guess that 90% of them would go for extra cash and time off.

Money no object? Why not give them all a payrise? With Dubai going down the pan - the last thing that I would want my consultancy firm tarnished with is grotesque ostentatious consumption when so many other ex-pats are struggling

Great idea. Well done. I would recommend The Meat Co. in Madinet area. Live in Dubai for 3 yrs. Loved it and often had project outings. Let your hair down after at one of the many bars with highly talented Filipino bands (eg Seaview Hotel, Marines Club).Good for you...now on to more important matters. You seem like a great boss...got any jobs going??? I'd be back like a shot. Despite the bad press Dubai is getting, those in the know say it will be back

Is anyone really impressed by a slap up meal anymore? Really? Why not just give them a few days off, and save your money?

If you want a relatively decent restaurant that includes an all you can eat AND drink, I can recommend Flavours on Two, Rotana Towers next to the Shangri La on Sheikh Zayed Road.Failing that there are many Friday brunches, which are a Dubai institution.

Yep, went there for Christmas Lunch. Very nice.Another must is the Bahri Bar for pre-dinner cocktails at Mina Al Salaam. I always took project teams there and they were very impressed. Excellent view of the Burj. Boy, I miss Dubai on days like this! Somebody get me a job out there again!
