Deloitte offices, a bit uninspiring?

Is it just me or are the Deloitte offices in London a bit uninspiring considering how big the brand is?Went into Stonecutter and thought it looked a bit bare and basic. Compare this to EY's impressive London Bridge, KPMG's new place in Canary Wharf and even PwC's new offices coming up right next to EY.Surely I can't be the only one that thinks the Deloitte offices are pretty crap in comparison!

Dear StratThank you for your feedback on our aesthetic scenery. Why not join the wider survey here, on what really counts in Deloitte - the male totty:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1235129/Deloitte-girl-quits-sending-email-asking-colleagues-vote-offices-attractive-men.html Hollyxxx

Yes, they are bland, but you won't be spending much time there - I have been in there for about a week in total over the last two years.

I am so sorry for my first very trivial post. I do know this forum is for likeminded professionals to share advice and ideas and not for pointless trivia.I just need to get myself on fees.Really sorry for being an idiot.

I think the NSS offices are a bit posher, but yes, SCC isn't what you'd call awe inspiring. Still, it's all about the totty in that place, don't you know?

Just want to point out that the person above who posted is NOT me. It's pretty easy in this forum to impersonate someone else.As for the issue, it is hardly trivial. Given that you spend the majority of your LIFE in an office, it is important to make sure it is a nice place. Otherwise you can extend that argument and say what's the point of investing in making your home look like, since it's just a place to sit down and sleep after a day of work.

Just wanted to point out that the person who posted above but under my other one is not me.And what I meant to say in my third (just above) post is that I need to be in a glitzy office to be inspired and I don't find working with great people or being on great projects inspiring at all. It is all about the comfy chairs and shiny desks for me.Actually, thinking about it, maybe this is something I should just talk to someone in my company about. Gosh, that's it! I'm off to speak to a manager about this great idea for spending money in the recession.

Strat - the original one - As a consultant who spends most of my working LIFE (not sure why you put it in caps but thought I would follow) on client site I don't care about having an inspiring office that would benefit administrators, managers and people who don't make too much effort to get on fees. I just want it to be functional and not to depressing a place so that the admin/managers etc have an ok environment. I would prefer the money not spent on glamming the place up to be in the bonus pot so I can use it to spend on making my home, where I spent most of my leisure LIFE, how I want it to be.Your extension of the argument is not a logical one.

i'd like them to spend as much as possible on the office.my wages are set by market rates, not the amount of money they partners have spare.if they make more money, they get richer. not me.so i'd rather they made a little less money and more was spent on the office. i'd probably get paid the same either way.

anon - doesn't quite work like that. The more they spend on the office the smaller the bonus pot. The bonus pot is typically divided by % so you also lose out if they spend it on the office, you just might lose less then a partner. If you hate them so much you might think it is worth you losing some money because it means they do as well.

Stonecutter is probably the least impressive of them all and was known as Costcutter in my day. Hill House was known imaginatively as Hell House. Not sure there was ever a witty name for Athene Place. I am told the new offices are a bit nicer, but having worked in a number of different companies frankly as long as it is not falling down it does not make much of a difference
