Yes sir and the spam was for principals not even partners!I've deleted the e-mail but it said something like salaries are exceptions... which could mean of course that most of consultants are not paid :-)

And they describe the mysterious client as a global strategy consultancy best known for their deep focus in Financial Services with more than 35 years experience serving Global 1000 clients, staff of more than 2,500 and offices in more than 40 cities in 16 countriesWhy can't they simply say its Oliver Wyman since this description is a copy & paste of their website? http://www.oliverwyman.com/ow/about.htm

What else can you expect from a recruitment agency? There are plenty of skilled people in the labour market with an average of 200 applicants per job post. I wander how these recruitment agencies make a profit if the only thing to get hundreds of applicants for a position is just to post a job on linkedin...In my experience, recruitment agencies are just charlatans looking for making money at your expense so get rid of the intermediary.

LL what is so inappropriate? The fact is that Consulting Point seem to get slated - with supporting evidence - on this forum far more than any other recruitment firm without exception. If this Rakesh is sending out emails like the one the OP flagged up, who can blame posters on this forum for making their opinions known? No smoke without fire.

Mars A Day - it is inappropriate because it gives just the (anonymous as usual) poster's view only. There is a worrying trend on here of moving away from providing good, helpful advice to snidey comments about individuals and boringly repetitive posts about the same few companies.

I'm with Libel lawyer and LL (same person I presume) here. What use is this forum as a professional networking channel? You never know who is posting the messages and lots of the posts are very childish.

At what point has this ever been a professional networking channel? I fail to see how that would work considering the whole point is that the forum in anonymous. As regards 'snidey comments about individuals and boringly repetitive posts about the same few companies' - people come on here both for advice and to express their views (whether anyone agrees with them or not) on companies - and that includes service providers to the MC industry also. That certain companies come under fire frequently just underlines the state of play within those firms, and is often framed within vociferous debate, not soap box proclamations. As for snidey, this would imply no justification: the whole thread started because someone posted a note about a frankly appalling email - copied straight from OWs website, full of spelling errors, and offering an absurd salary. LL would you tolerate this email going out in your name? What would it say about your firm if it went out representing you? the original post was not offering an unsubstantiated accusation but real evidence. So where is your problem, other than wanting everyone to play nicely? And as you say - it's someone's view, and just that. But from what I can see from the original message - and many other posts - many MCs have had a bad experience with CP (but not only them). Get over yourself, get off your soap box.

Mars A Day - "get over myself"? Bit of a disappointing comment from one of the few people on here (assuming it is the same person posting each time) that tries to use this site for it's otiginal purpose. But anyway, my point is that the value of this site is greatly diminished by the fact that anyone can post under any name. Also, there is a huge problem with people using it merely to grind their axe over and over again.Considering this is supposed to be for professional people some of the posts are incredibly childish. To fix some of this I think there should be unique user names - they don't have to be real names I should add.

@Anon and on - and you're not anonymous I suppose?!How many forums are truly not anonymous out there? Answer = none. Wise up dude (or lady! see - hard to tell who you are too!) - this forum is like all the others it just has a title to attract (mainly) MC's.My real name is Dave BTW......or is it.....?!

If people want to gring their axes where is the problem? Yes the constant moaning about PA Consulting or whoever else can be tiresome, but for every thread which starts with someone grinding an axe usually others will come to the defence of the firm in question, offer advice, or at least make some comments which - intended to be humourous - offer some light relief. I cannot see the harm if people want to air their frustrations anonymously and with the intention of getting some support/feedback/advice. I read the usual threads about XYZ firms and of course there are issues with every single one: people attack ACN, PA, EY and MBB is the holy grail, only for the next thread to complain that MBB pays less than IB, the hours are brutal etc. Everyone will grind an axe at some point, no matter how experienced, senior or seemingly happy they are with where they are. It does not dictate that this forum has gone into decline in some way - it's a virtual water cooler conversation, down the pub b1tching session, career and mentoring session, whatever you need it to be.As useful as it is to be able to seek and give advice on this forum, that is only one aspect if it. It's an open conversation and as such, within parameters of decent behaviour, people should feel free - and safe -to talk about whatever it is (in the insular world of MC) which is affecting them, good or bad.If you look back over this forum you will see threads where even the usual partisan lines are abandoned for something more important. ZB likes to attack ACN and IT Consultants, and in turn gets it in the neck from them. Pirlo and Hard Hat used to give good advice but would also join in the juvenile fun. Etc etc. Then when TR's son was diagnosed with serious illness, the usual nonsense stopped as we all voiced our support - as adults - before resuming the usual mix of nonsense, p1ss takes, advice and general moaning. Much like my household, and yours too I expect LL.I know where you are coming from - I just think that its better to let everyone contribute what they will, how they will, on the understanding that - being largely decent, career minded people - the important things get addressed amidst all the joking, axe grinding and Rakesh baiting. Now where did I park my sleigh...?The anonymity is essential: people will not feel free to comment openly if they have to register even if that registration is under a pseudonym. Tony and the others at TC have addressed this recurring issue in other threads.

LL, having unique user names wouldn't have made this thread any different, nor would I have valued it any different. Accept the fact that a lot of rubbish is posted, don't take it all too serious and just use/join the threads that seem interesting to you (and ignore the rest). Simple as that.

In my experience, recruitment agencies are useless these days. The market is so flooded with skilled professionals that any HR department finds very easy to make a good recruitment deal. The recruitment industry needs to get 'profesionalised' as many recruiters don't even have a clue of what are they talking about, they just repeat the job specs as if it were enough. Then they treat you as rubbish, they never callback when they say they will, they get information from you to exploit other opportunities, etc.My recommendation, DON'T USE THEM...
