Wondering if anyone knows much about life at LEK, particularly in its Boston office. I hear mixed things about the hours so I'm hoping to get more input. Also, I'm debating LEK vs Deloitte S&O. I have a life sciences background and intend to go back into the industry at some point.Any insight appreciated. One other thing - salaries are equal, with Deloitte having a much bigger signing but offers almost no annual bonus.

As far as I'm aware the hours will be pretty long at LEK - most of the time will be spent building excel models.

YUCK! What do they pay for people to do those kinds of hours? Guaranteed £0.5M bonus at the end of the year?Might as well go into banking.

LEK will work you 16 hour days and all weekends. Give up any thoughts of friends, family, or a personal life. They are not a good employer

The salary you are offered at LEK will never increase - it may go down though, as many people have found to their cost. And there will always be excuses about why nobody ever makes even a fraction of the "on-target" bonus. Stay well away.

Wow, a surprisingly unanimous opposition to LEK on the board! I have heard that LEK differs a lot by office. Are you guys speaking mostly to London (this board seems UK-centric)?

"Differs a lot by office" is the same, in my opinion, as saying "has an inconsistent approach to personnel management". This, in my opinion, then equates to "one thing you can be sure of, is that you can't be sure of what you'll get". I've worked in environments like that in the past, and it gave me IBS. Hmm. Any LEKers able to verify?

Well, I can vouch for the hours...despite the recession the hours have been consistently long throughout the year (60-80), and looking to increase even for the coming year. Pay is good though for consultancy standards, and the hours are not longer than you would have elsewhere in this area of the industry. LEK is a really good place for life sciences, I'm not very at home in that area, but I guess there aren't many companies around who'd beat them at that.

To be fair though, you have a generous dinner allowance, and when you are released for the evening (say 1am), you are allowed to take a cab home. Does it compensate for the hours and sheer stress of having Ian Evans stalking you? NO
