I've realised recenly that after commiting so much time to my career and work, I have no outside interests! To the point where I have no idea where to start to find hobbyI'm looking for something that I can totally absorb my self in and get away from thinking about work. I snowboard once a year, but I need something I can do at my flat as well as getting out and doing things on the weekend, as time in the evenings is so short.Any serious suggestions - ThanksP

Computer games are OK but after 55 hours a week on a computer it's nice to do something a bit more 'in the real world' if you know what I mean.I looked at various local classes, but they are just too expensive.Right now my hobby is basically watching re-runs of "police camera action" on Sky.There must be better stuff to do than this.

Take up a team sport, or speak with your friends and join in their hobbies. If you don't want to do the former, and don't have any of the latter, then consider giving up.

I live the south east now about 1.5hrs from london, and can't move at present. Having no friends is a bit of an issue as I have spent so much time in work or away from home - I only just know my neighbours!8thday looks really good, but it is london based and not always accessible. tried the evening class route but most are over by the time I get home around 8pm.Anyone fancy a game of footy in the south east? - pls!Perhaps I should think about starting a bored and socially inept consultants club in my area!anymore suggestions or people in my situation?

Pete dragging yourself into something you are not actually interested in won't get you very far; night classes etc are ok but rather limited as most people there will be looking to get a qualification, learn a language or whatever and will be taking it quite seriously given their investment of money and time. Accept the fact that the weekday evenings you won't do much except watch TV, go the gym whatever and make the most of your w/e; there must be dry slopes for your snowboarding etc in your area? An interest is not going to come to you - I get the sense you want something social, to meet people, and that is not going to happen at your flat (unless you are hiring them by the hour), so you have to get out there and do something, even if it means travelling a bit.

It's tough to have social hobbies when you have a job that doesn't let you get home before 8.00pm at the earliest.

Quite a long 10 mins then. No wonder you don't get home before 8pm
