Hi Guys,I am bit of a struggle. I have a job offer from a small consultancy (about £23000). Also I have an appliation with a major blue chip (London, and more $), the managers were happy but HR has not authorized a verbal offer due to bad UK economy forecasts.I am under time pressure and have to accept the smaller consultancies offer tomorrow and can't affort waiting for a "maybe/likely" job offer from a major blue chip software house.Am I doing the right thing here?Thanks for your suggestions.

My opinion is that you should take it if you haven't had any other offers and have been going for plenty of interviews.I took an offer from a lesser employer when I graduated just as the dot com bubble burst. As soon as the industry picked up again 6 months later I left. The work experience helped me get my foot in the door with the job I wanted.

John - main thing at this stage in your career is just to get consulting experience onto your CV. Whenever the market picks up again and hiring becomes a real struggle once again then prior consulting experience (even with a small firm) will open lots of doors for you.So I'd take the offer - especially given that it's graduate recruitment that is expected to suffer most in the current climate (ie. other offers may not materialise).Tony RestellTop-Consultant.com
