Hi, I am an A2 at Accenture, and am up for promotion this Sept. and was wondering if anyone knows/any hints at what the C1 promotion salary will be this year?Also, have been rated SA, (internally so far) and apparently this adds a bonus pay rise - any idea what this may be roughly? Are perf ratings likely to change dramatically when going national?Also, given the current direction of the economy - any experienced consultants care to punt as to what could happen to consultant salaries/progression etc in the coming years?Cheers,

Apologies cant help but would like to know whether it is common for someone with two years industry experience to be considered for c1 level. Is 2 years industry experience - Orange grad scheme - considered the same as someone with 2 years consulting experience? Also you mention economic climate - is ACN reducing its headcount or recruitment intake?

As far as I am aware internally hiring has not been curbed, in the public domain there is an article about recent Accenture graduate hire activity remaining steady/slightly increasing. Although have heard of a few start groups being small recently - but its that time of the year - summer should pick up. Regarding the time at level: It depends I think - not being HR I am not really placed to say, but I did an internship (with ACN however) and got 1 year time at level credit. I think it should work the same for 2 years - but thats the same as being an experience hire now - as if you are going for C1, it is out of scope of the grad scheme, so you need to go through the exp. hire route.By economic climate I meant inflation increasing to a predicted 4% at the end of the year - not at the low level of hires. More of a bigger picture view on the consulting world in the UK.

If it's at all helpful I'm a C1 grade, joined towards the end of last year with three years consulting experience and I'm on £43k. I think that's typical for the grade but if you got there from progression through the ranks I would actually expect it to be a bit lower? Oh and I'm in MCIM if that makes a difference.Also here's some general salary brackets I've been quoted, they shouldn't be too wrong but they are quite broad. Individually however you can do very well and it all depends on the roles and projects you get, and possibly even how good you are!Work hard, learn lots, develop those transferable skills and just don't buy a house (or bedsit) you can't afford and you should be okay.

Not much lower. Just fewer promotions. The company might choose to drive down their salary levels over a longer period (use to be in 75th percentile compared to peer group - but that figure hasn't been quoted for yonks), but don't think they'd do it in a big swing in a single year. After all, once there's an upturn next year, they can't promote people with much larger raises than this year. But do count yourself very ver lucky if you get promoted. I don't think expectations have been managed quite enough and there will be lots of disappointments.

Im interested in this thread too. So would we be looking at between 41 and 44k for a C1?Ive got two Sig Aboves going into promotions, and have been with the firm just under 2 years. I'm fairly confident of promotion - should I be?

i was promoted to C1 last september with an Above - put on 41k.

There will be no promotions this year in Accenture. There will be promotions within grades (i.e. A1-A2, C1-C2, M4-M5) but not Analyst to Consultant, Consultant to Manager. Top performers are given a landing platform, i.e. C3's are made C4's, and given a bit of a bump in pay but not the full manager salary. This is meant to be on the downlow, but as UK&I has performed so badly this year, promotions will not happen.

Speculation and bad consultancy skills lead to statements like 'no promotions'. Just imagine having to make that decision yourself as partner... a) normal procedure - hell no, i can be cheap because of the financial situation in the worldb) no promotions - the rising stars will be leaving to another firm or go into industryc) limitations - duh. Promote only the best of the best to keep them on board making money and to set an example to the rest (basically saying: you have to work harder, better, smarter, etc to get a promotion or a decent bonus).

When I got promoted 2 years ago, it was broken down as follows:+25% for promotion+18% for performance (SA)Salary increases are done on a percentage basis, although there are minimum threshholds. I have heard that promotions will be scarce, but will be happening, albeit in limited numbers. And I can imagine that the % increases will be lower.

Yep - Based on experience, getting promoted during "tough" times usually results in a smaller pay increase than experienced during the better times (ie 2 years ago) - Those who don't get promo this year but do next year may actually get a better C1 pay...I would say 41-43 is realistic. M1 is the 65-70 range which is roughly a 20% increase on a C3's pay which accounts for promotion

I'm not entirely sure how the figures stack up to be honest...I'm a C2 and on circa 47 - 48K. Assuming that I get a very poor rise (if any) in sep, that's going to mean a bump of 40% to make 65k as an M1. Even a raise of 10% in Sep (unlikely) would still mean a 25% rise to make the M1 figures that are often quoted.I didn't think ACN gave those sort of increases nowadays?
