Hi All, I am facing some friustrating challanges with HR process in Deloitte. I currently manage a practice for BPM/SOA with a large SI. Recently I applied in Deloitte and have been verbally offered a job for manager. Its been several weeks now and the HR lady has been committing for last couple of weeks about my offer being mailed to me amd just today, I received a background check consent application. Should i assume that no work has yet started on my contract? Is this a common practice and situation as I am getting increasingly frustrated by this precarious situation of who to believe. Any advise would be appreciated and till what stage should i demonstrate patience?

I had the same issues with Deloitte's HR. They are terrible. Just be patient though - fortunately they are not reflective of the way the Consulting practice is run. Also, if they are running background checks, I'm pretty sure you've definately got the job. I didn't get my contract until about 2 months after receiving a verbal offer.

Rubbish HR

Unfortunately Deloitte outsource their recruitment to AMS who, from what I hear, are hopeless, failed recruitment consultants. That can slow down the whole process. This kind of thing is pretty typical of large organisations though. As Deloitter says the Consulting practice is much better.

Rubbish HR - I thought that their recruitment was outsourced to AMS, but that the HR was still an internal function?

True. But they do have to communicate with each other. I just said AMS might be a reason, HR are still rubbish.

Hi, Finally got my contracts today. Phew! Atleast now I can see something moving forward. Thanks for all your inputs.I think the HR process is slow due to multiple channels and dependencies and a lack of proactive interaction with a candidate. It does leave a bad taste especially when you are seeking to join the firm for its reputation.

thats true - AMS handle recruitment only. they have no influence over the HR stuff and can't speed it up. the contracts team was recently relocated to Milton Keynes, and half the team left!!! which is why the contracts process is so slow - so the fault isnt really with HR or AMS/recruitment

Not sure it is really down to any recent changes though. The problem was there about two years ago when I joined and had similar problems. HR is not necessarily reflective of the overall organisation which can be a very good place to work and in some teams not so great
