Does anybody know which of the top tier business consultancies have strong aviation and travel industry practices? The players I'm thinking of are McK, BCG, Bain, Booz&Co, Oliver Wyman, OC&C.Thanks for your help.

I'd agree with Anon - Roland Berger Strategy Consultants have a strong heritage in the aviation industry (strategic work rather than process stuff of course). I worked in Asia, Africa and Europe with the practice on some really challenging and interesting assignments.Tony RestellTop-Consultant.com

Eric - the original question was focused on strategy consultancies that operate in this area. I don't believe that any airline outside the Lufthansa alliance would dream of bringing in Lufthansa consultants to advise on strategy - and I'd be very surprised if Lufthansa weren't themselves engaging these top strategy consultancies to work on projects for them (historically this was certainly always the case). So agreed this might be a good team to join if you want to focus entirely on aviation consulting work, but if it's strategic assignments you want to work on for a broad client base I'd be very surprised if this is what they can offer. Hence my Roland Berger endorsement.Tony RestellTop-Consultant.com

Well Tony you definitely may be right. What i am sure about, is that Lufthansa Consulting, does a lot of consulting in areas of airport modernization/expansion.As for my answer on this question goes, it was given directly as a response to the 'topic' of the thread, rather to the detailed question of Anon. My apologies for the same. Its not very often that one gets to hear about Aviation consulting, and that i might say excited me a bit.

Bain has worked and is currently working with several airlines. I understand it is a little old but a very interesting case you might want to read is:"Right Away and All at Once: How We Saved Continental" from Harvard Business PublishingAn electronic download is only $6.50.Also, David Emerson has recently been promoted to head the global airline industry consulting practice. His experience includes leading more than 50 worldwide projects for Bain’s clients in the airline industry.
