Hello everybody, I am a young KPMG consultant guy who works in the Bank & Insurances financial services. Actually I'm working for the Risk & Compliance unit, but I recently got bored of my job and while i was looking for a new opportunity a recruiting company contacted me. The companys' name is "HAYS" The recruiting manager of "HAYS" texed me by linkedin in order to offer me a job position in the Recruiting Consulting; he specified that the position is for a CONSULTING job, rather than recruiting, even though actually Hays is classified as recruiting firm (not consulting). Anyway, I am quite interested about the above menntioned position; in fact I m looking for a no sitting 24h job and probably this one could fit me. However, I m skeptical about the company. When I joined KPMG I knew that is one of the "Big 4" and it keep me quiet. About HAYS i don t know too much; i searched in internet about some ranking of the top recruiting firms in the world, but unfortunately i did not find anything satisfactory. I would like to know what do you think about that firm, if you know someone who works/ worked in and, above all, if I can consider it one of the top 3 recruiting company of the world. Thank you everybody! Daniel

Hays is a top consulting firm in the same way that the Brisbane Womens Basketball Team is a top English premiership football team.Frankly - they're a huge faceless, not-very-good bodyshopping option even in the recruitment market.Hays "consultant" = contractor on a low perm wage.

Dear @Mr Cool, thank you for the prompt answer. I would like to know more about your observation.First of all, HAYS offered me a wage which is 30% higher than the one that i earn nowdays in KPMG. So, what do you mean with "contractor on a low perm wage"?Secondly, I compared it with their competitors in the recruitment consulting market (i.e. Micheal Page, Adecco) and I discovered that it is one of the biggest and, actually, it is present in 33 countries. So, what do you mean with "not-very-good bodyshopping option even in the recruitment market".Thank you for the opinion anywayBest wishes!Daniel

Daniel,If I were you, I would jump at the chance. If a company with a reputation as big as Hays can offer you 30% more than your current job. You'd be silly not to take it. I strongly believe that KPMG will miss you sorely.Go for it, and never look back.Yours Sincerely,I am job

Hays what?I have been a HH for near 20 years, much of that in professional services, and can honestly say I have never, in all that time, found then to be credible.A 30% increase to leave a Big 4 to go to Hays would be like getting a bigger Big Mac in exchange for your smaller sirloin steak.Next thing you'll be telling me is Harriet Harman says she loves you more so you'll be dumping Beyonce forthwith.

Dear all, thanks for the answers which you posted here; all of them are really important for me.Just few lines for give you more details about my position and reply to all of you.Actually I am working for KPMG since 1 year and a half in the Risk & Compliance services. I am 25 year old, so I am really uncertain about my future. HAYS contacted me about 4 days ago and offered me a "recruitment consulting" job position with: - an open ended contract (instead of the actual KPMG fixed-term contract for 1 year and a half); - a gross annual earnings 30% higher than KPMG wage (which I ear today). In that moment I don't care too much about the money (I am a "second year consultant", so the increase of my salary will be less than 10k), but more about my future job prospective. I would like to understand if HAYS give the same opportunity in the recruiting conculting like KPMG is doing nowdays in the advisory field; or if it is just a waste of time and in 1 year my job career will be quite slowed down because of HAYS choice.Every additional comment will be useful.@tom1: thank you for the reply;@marsday: thank you for the reply and the funny/ intuitive comparison. Unfortunately, because of my bad english I couldn't understand it so well. First of all, what did you mean whit HH? Secondly, with your comparison did you mean that HAYS offer is a good opportunity for me? Could you kindly explain me one more time@Mr Cool: thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I did not understand your position;@Bushy Eyebrow Partner: "no sitting 24h" it means that actually my job position keep me in front of the pc almost the whole day. HAYS position could give me the opportunity of having more contact with the client (half part of the project it is commercial, with bonus linked to monthly target and the remaining part consist, mainly, in business bank and recruitment market analysis).Thank you all for your timeBest wishesDaniel

Enormous potential here for some interesting comparisons.I'll start. This is hypothetical.Should I McKinsey for a 300% reduction in my sitting time at Mckinsey? I like doing complex analysis and reports for clients but there are so many more pics in the Argos catalogue and I can fill out way more of those little slips in the same time, making me feel more productive. Can anyone help?

As no one else has got there yet... KPMG have come out for a living minimum wage today (see the news section). Print it off and take it into work tell them they now have an ethical imperative to pay you at least as much as umm....Hays...

So if I engage KPMG Risk & Compliance this is what I get? Yikes.Maybe hays is offering a substantial uplift on the sitting down time after all time.Although, on balance Robert Dyasis coming out of this pretty well. I mean 10% off bread makers? That's hard cash, man.
