I know this got asked a couple of times but the last question I could find about this was already a few years ago.I graduated from a top European business school 6 years ago then went on to pursue a PhD in Japanese language and literature with a European university (likewise highly respected for its program, although I spent most of my PhD in Japan).I'm about to hand out my dissertation, I have published a few peer-reviewed papers, presented at international conferences and have a post-doc lined up. It was a wonderful experience and I do not regret it. However I just do not see myself doing this for another 30 years and I would like to switch to consulting. My questions:1) Are consulting firms still actively recruiting humanities (literature) PhDs or is this largely a myth? Is this limited to MBB or do smaller firms now also recruit PhDs ?2) I will be 30 (31 if I go through with the post-doc) by the time I make the switch. Is this too old to start a consulting career ? Will my age play against me ?Thanks

I'd say the best bet is to find a decent recruiter. They will be able to answer a lot of questions for you. I don't know a great deal about post-PhD recruitment specifically but if you consider it on par with an MBA (which you should), a lot of people in Europe come out of an MBA at a similar age to you so I can't see that being a barrier. Is it that you don't want to join MBB or just want to explore all open options?W

MBB would obviously be great, but if that does not work out I will have to look at other options.
