My consulting career isn't progressing. I've been looking for another job and have been rejected from:Deloitte (1st round – not enough leadership experience)Detica (2nd round – no feedback provided)PA Consulting (2nd round)KPMG (2nd round)For both PA and KPMG, I got very close and the reasons for rejection were very circumstantial to their recruiting needs than any interview downfall. PA delayed the decision over a few weeks after the second round and called me a couple of times to ask whether I had any offers yet elsewhere. With hindsight, perhaps I should have lied and said yes!I feel like the worlds most unlucky person. I will be applying to Accenture, Cap Gem next…However, I have been offered a job outside of consulting in more of a technical role. The money is better, it will involve project management and the hours are more reasonable. However, I will be moving into a new industry with a less prestigious employer. If things didn’t work out and I wanted to move back, it may be difficult to explain my reasoning . However I'm not exactly shining in my career so far either. Any thoughts? Should I be brave and take the offer? Should I stay where I am and keep applying? Should I not base important life decisions on the opinions of strangers ;) ?

Have you tried EY BAS or IBM ? They don't seem to have as high quality standards as the companies you have listed as rejecting you

No but from what I hear EY BAS haven't been doing too well at the moment though.

True, but have you tried IBM ? Tough organisation to work for, but they will really hire just about anyone. An old boss of mine has just left a FTSE 100 insurers to join them as an MC, and she was really very very weak. Seems to be doing OK in IBM insurance practice though

I would say stick to Consulting as long as there are still opportunities and as you have time left (some people indeed need to start a job after university to support themselves). This year I will be graduating as well and having attended various consulting firms' interview rounds with mixed results I was about to "exit" into a banking job. And then, the interviews I did with the last consulting firm on my list all went brilliant and I got the job!Essentially, do not ever even think about giving up as long as there is a chance. I know from my own recent experience how it can kill you not to be given the job you actually feel are capable of doing. So, all the best and good luck!

Nothing worthwhile comes easy. Make it difficult for yourself. Stick with consulting or IBanking.Winston Churchill once said "success is being able to go from one failure to another without any loss of enthusiasm". So... go!
