So...I perused the jobs on here. Found something interesting. Applied for it. Got called for a tele-interview. Had it yesterday (you can guess the region).I felt it went well. Sent a thank you note right after the call. Made my cuppa, wanted to relax, logged in to FB to see what siblings up to. I get a message that my mum was not well and underwent surgery. Saw it on my mobile as well. Only one thing to do, really. Got a flight for later in the week. Looks like my time off will be extended. It's all good. Nothing lasts forever. Not even our troubles and tribulations.

If they're worth their salt, then they could surely wait a little while for your return?Hope she's okay and as BEP said stay positive - although it can be difficult to do so sometimes

I recently read an illuminating article. It was a brief account of the dedication of a nurse working in palliative care, who had made a point of asking all those in her care what had made them happiest and their biggest regrets. The results were later compiled into a book of 20 years of such reflections and the overwhelming response was family, and not spending enough time with them.If this company can't understand your priorities right now, this isn't a company you should be working at anyway.I hope your mum recovers, keep us updated.

Mars, I read that too.Am off later today. I know that it'll be difficult, but guys and gals, please try not to miss me too much.If bad things happen in threes, then let this be #3 and this be the extent of it.They were OK. It was only the first call. Good call. I pulled out. Right thing to do. Am going to take a bit more time off.

Greetings from SEA!Been good news - much needed good news. Phew!Going to go out for a round of golf in a bit. First in ages. Maybe I should have taken up golf and turned pro. My old coach when I was young is the current coach and caddie of a World #1 who won a major last year. Have a good week.
