Hi,I have been now 4 years in the management consulting field as a freelance. I recently recieved an offer from a company to start as a regional general manager of Germany. We have discussed the salary conditions, and it gets low a 30% of what I am getting now. On the other hand I believe is a very good opportunity to jump into management and apply my consulting knowledge. Has anyone has faced similar conditions? Advice on the matter would be highly appreciated.

In the US, it is not unusual to take a pay cut when leaving MC for an industry position. For example, a MC with 5-6 yrs of experience could be making $180-$200k. If he took a Sr. Manager or Director level position in industry, he'd be making about $120-150k. But these things balance out over the medium-term. A former MC colleague took a sizeable pay cut to take a Director level position in a Fortune 500 company. He just ran circles around everyone there, that he got promoted to VP in 2 yrs. So he's now making slightly more than what he was making before leaving MC.Follow your instincts.
